Ask for chassis and model-plate photographs, registration details and the original specification. Spec-R badges, body kits or an engine conversion do not establish factory identity. Compare the seller’s description with the records before treating two cars as equivalent.

Understand how the car has been modified

Suspension, differential, engine-management and body changes should be considered together. Ask about previous use, supporting invoices and any structural work. An aftermarket parts list is useful, but it does not replace inspection of how the parts were fitted and how the car operates.

Check the body and driveline
